Wavy Wool Club is an initiative connecting farmers and creatives. Workshops, talks, and exhibitions are held in the urban and the rural. It addresses environmental, cultural, and financial challenges through experimental practice. By providing a platform for land workers to share skills and stories, the project introduces a creative income stream to recoup losses from a declining farming industry. It is dedicated to agricultural, social, and cultural production through collaboration.
Join the Wavy Wool Club and explore the deep connections between wool, the environment, and the communities involved in its production.
For centuries, humans and sheep have shared a mutually beneficial relationship: humans provided food and protection, and in return, they received wool—a remarkable material that has significantly influenced both human and animal history. However, with synthetic fibres, the increasing exploitation of natural resources, and intensive farming practices, wool has unfortunately lost much of its value.
The Wavy Wool Club offers a welcoming space to unwind, chat, and create using beautiful wool sourced from various farms across the North West of England—wool that would otherwise go to waste.
Tools will be available to card, spin, felt and bookbind with the fibre.
Free to attend and open to all.
